1979. Game five of the playoff series between the Spurs and Bullets. The Spurs are up 3-1. This story didn't even take place during the game. For some reason, one of the cofounders of this website and myself were fortunate enough to go to this game at the Capital Centre. We had gotten to our seats fairly early. There were a couple thousand people at most milling around their seats when a player came out to warmup. It was George "Iceman" Gervin. He is putting on quite a show with his array of shots. He wasn't missing much either! I then remember looking around and noticing the fans (mind you the Spurs were the visiting team) were getting into his warmup act. There were cheers and some ooohs and aaahs as well. Somewhere in the midst of the entertainment, Kevin Grevey of the Bullets comes out to warmup on the opposite side of the court. Grevey was usually the guy responsible for guarding Gervin. Gervin keeps hitting shots, notices Grevey is now watching him. Gervin hits a few more shots as Grevey is now walking towards half court maybe to watch himself. Gervin walks off the court towards the visiting locker room. he is dribbling as he walks under the backboard. With his back towards the back of the backboard while walking away from the basket, he flips the ball up over the backboard and hits nothing but net as he is walking into the locker room. The crowd that has been watching this circus act gives him a standing ovation as Grevey is standing at half court probably feeling a bit helpless in having to guard him in just a few minutes. The Bullets went on to win this elimination game for them and then won the next two to best the Spurs 4-3 but what a show Ice put on BEFORE the game even started!1979. Miami Heat

Just another weeknight Miami Heat game. The Heat were playing the Washington Wizards. What the heck, I'll watch it for a while.
Little did I know that our center Bam Adebayo was about to enter the Twilight Zone. Bam went off He was a one man gang and our coach and the Wizard pretty much let him run wild.
And wild it was What a performance!
83 points. FGs 26/43. 3pts 7/22. FTs 26/43. I was exhausted just watching him. 83 points was the second most in NBA history!
Well now, here come the detractors Kobe Bryant fans were miffed. Well he did this or he didn't do that blah blah blah. I felt bad that Bam was even hearing this. No respect for mere mortals. I know one thing. 83 is more than 81.
It was a herculean effort I will never forget watching.
